The Fat Boy Chronicles ATL Premiere

Mixtape Atlanta and Tin Roof Films are excited to announce the Atlanta premiere of the feature film- The Fat Boy Chronicles- on Wednesday, June 30 at The Plaza Theatre. Based on a true story and book by the same name, The Fat Boy Chronicles tackles issues of childhood obesity and bullying through the eyes of a charismatic young man named Jimmy. The movie also features music by some of Atlanta's most popular bands including Y O U, The Greater Vavoom, All Get Out, Weapons of Audio, The Judies, Club Awesome, Modern Skirts, The Empties, Mermaids, The Kicks, Death on Two Wheels, Stellate, and more!

Night 1- Hot Hot Hot

Night One of 500 Songs for Kids 2010 began with a strong audience turnout and a plethora of inventive performances. Artists covered songs 500-451 off of the list of 500 Greatest Era-Defining Songs of All Time. The Futura Bold's Bruce Butkovich brought along talented friends James Hall and members of Renegade Jane to help him perform a stripped down yet passionate version of Asia's "Heat of The Moment." Bruce and Renegade Jane joined forces again later in the night as the rockers added a twist to M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes." Acoustic solo artist Jeremy Aggers' comedic version of Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It" had the crowd laughing and singing along. Quench's energetic cover of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" was spot on and amped the rock quota for the evening. Rantings of Eva's assignment of Radiohead's "Karma Police" was no easy chore, but they did the song proud. Two of the night most amazing performances were last. Marshall Ruffin's cover of Howlin' Wolf's "Smoke Stack Lighting" was blues perfection and Nikki Wade mixed her own unique style with Lady Gaga's to get everyone dancing to the pop star's hit "Poker Face." Tonight's the Night!

Tonight 500 Songs for Kids begins! This year's 10-night marathon will focus on the 500 Greatest Era-Defing Songs of All Time with a different artist performing one song off of a nightly list of 50. The show starts at 6:45PM at Smith's Olde Bar and last until all of that night's songs are covered. Get your advanced tickets here or pay $10 at the door. "Sing Sing" Music Video

Check out Stellate's brand new music video for "Sing Sing" off their 2009 EP I Get A Rush. Directed by Rett Thompson and produced by Mixtape Atlanta's Kim Burdges, the video was shot across Atlanta last summer at various locations including The Loft.

Stellate's New Music Video Premiere

Tonight- Friday, February 26- Stellate is premiering their new music video "Sing Sing" at Hard Rock Cafe's Velvet Underground. "Sing Sing" Music Video Premiere Show

Friday, February 26 come to Hard Rock Cafe’s Velvet Underground for the music video release of Stellate’s song “Sing Sing.” Produced by Mixtape Atlanta’s Kim Burdges and directed by Rett Thompson, “Sing Sing” is an electric video that captures the band’s high energy and pop appeal. Not only will attendees be the first to see this new music video, Stellate will perform as well as The Breakdown and Come Down Denver. This is an all ages show. Fun starts at 9PM. NIGHT 8- Under Pressure

The passion is rapidly intensifying as we near to the final 100 songs of the 500 Songs for Kids countdown. Thursday night was full of moving and entertaining performances. The Judies fused their own personal style with David Bowie’s signature flair on the Bowie & Queen classic “Under Pressure.” Bain Mattox made Madonna’s pop anthem “Like a Prayer” into a rock love song. Power pop group Stellate keep the energy up on The Outfield’s “Your Love.” Gareth Asher’s stirring acoustic take on Jeff Buckley’s “Last Goodbye” held the entire room’s attention. Although the artist genres and performance styles were vast, the caliber of talent on display was impressive.
