500 Songs for Kids continued the excitement of Night One into Night Two on Friday, April 29. Yearly staples Seed and Feed Marching Abominable provided a colorful performance of Jonathan Adams's "The Time Warp" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Other returning bands such as Jungol and Ethan and the Ewox performed rock classics "Rock the Casbah" and "Sledgehammer" respectively. Kevin Spencer, who is also scheduled to perform with Yacht Rock Schooner on Night Six, converted non-Rush fans into diehards with his rendition of the band's "Tom Sawyer." Returning to 500 Songs for Kids after a few years, The Love Willows loosened everyone up with their fun version of Madonna's "Like a Virgin." Other highlights included: Ghost Party's cover of The Stone Roses' "She Bangs The Drums," Prisca's take on Regina Spektor's "Fidelity," and Brad Cox's intimate performance in the Atlanta Room. Night 8- Come Together
Night Eight of 500 Songs for Kids brought together many talented established groups as well as some newly formed ones. Golden and Hightide Blues kicked the night off with assemble versions of songs by Dave Matthews Band and The Who, respectively. Jungol created a large sound with just a keyboard and guitar to recreate Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer." The Well Reds brilliantly tackled Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" nailing all the vocal and musical notes. Athens' Five Eight rocked Smith's Olde Bar as if it were a stadium to perform Kiss' "Rock and Roll All Nite" complete with costumes and effects. Gareth Asher closed out with a talented group of musicians that he gathered in between songs to perform a spirited bluesy rock cover of Elvis Presley's "That's All Right."

The Week is Upon Us!
It's finally the week of 500 Songs For Kids! All the last minute planning, hectic scheduling of the last few songs, and coordinating 500 amazing bands to come together for this event, is coming down to the wire! We have some more artist announcements for you for the next few days and then we'll be joining the Songs For Kids crew at Smith's Olde Bar on Thursday to help for the first of ten nights, bringing you the 500 Greatest Era-Defining Songs of All Time!

Jungol Boogie
Two of Atlanta’s most popular rock bands- Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun and Jungol- played before a full house at the Drunken Unicorn on Friday, July 10. Both bands have gained a solid following with their inventive rock music and consistent touring around the city.
Sun captured the audience’s attention and engagement by supplying one hit after the other. Energetic lead singer, Lauren Gibson, never cooled, stomping and dancing along to the band’s experimental pop-rock hits. If she danced, so did the audience; when she slowed down, the crowd did too. Not many performers are able to hold their audience’s attention with so much suspense, but Gibson did it stealthy yet effectively. The other band members also initiated crowd participation. Drummer Jeremy Cole led the crowd into unified clapping to supply the beat for one of the songs, which impressively enough was maintained throughout the track. Gibson also pulled several people, including Mixtape Atlanta’s Veronica Yung, onstage with her to dance to one of the songs.
The energy created by Sun was maintained by Jungol. Before taking the stage, the band added neon light tubes creating a more visual experience to their performance.
