On Wednesday, CNN Grill hosted their biggest music lineup of the week. Starting the acoustic acts even earlier, Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers warmed up the stage with a short but lively performance. Familiar Atlanta acts, Granville Automatic and Trae Vedder from Death on Two Wheels also performed on the acoustic stage before solo performances from Brett Dennen and Augustana front man, Dan Layus.
After the acoustic performances came to an end, pop royalty Duran Duran stopped by for a quick interview before the downstairs stage commenced with some spectacular full band sets.
R&B popstar Miguel performed a tight hour-long set, even coming out into the audience to dance with the crowd. After receiving thunderous applause from the intimate crowd, Miguel stayed to mingle with the audience and take in The Back Pockets' performance. Carting their instruments in a dumpster across Austin, the performance rock group had many anxious to see what all the makeup, saws, baseball bats, and costumes were all about. The eclectic group quieted all suspicions and spotlighted their musicianship by using bats and ladders as added percussion, while the flutist played the saw like a fiddle.
Lovett and Gold Motel rounded out the CNN Grill's late-night acts. Lovett packed the house and filled the stage with a catchy circus of dance and music from the band's debut album, The Highway Collection, released the day before. The band even added more members to its twelve-piece group by gathering audience members to play colorful shakers for a song.
