On the fence about attending the 2nd Annual Greatest Yacht Rock Revival in the Universe? Pondering how is will be different from last year? Wondering how the Yacht Rockers select the order of their vast set list? Luckily, we have your answers straight from the source. We now present you with a message from the desk of Kenny Bloggins...
You know them, you love them, you want them to help get your parents back together after the costly divorce. On Saturday August 18th they will again set a new world record for the most captain's hats EVER worn at a single time when they take the stage in Piedmont Park for the Greatest Yacht Rock Revival in the Universe. Last year's festival featured opening sets by Little River Band and Ambrosia and some of Atlanta's best food trucks.
How will they top this? I honestly have no idea. But rumor has it that the plethora of special guests that will be joining us (Gary Wright - "Dream Weaver," "Love is Alive"; Robbie Dupree - "Steal Away"; Peter Beckett of Player - "Baby Come Back"; John Ford Coley - "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight"; Elliot Lurie of Looking Glass - "Brandy"; Walter Egan - "Magnet and Steel"; and Starbuck - "Moonlight Feels Right") will all draw names from the captain's hat worn by Ted Turner in the 1977 America's Cup found in an abandoned Long John Silver's. This will determine the order at which they perform. Then there will be a raffle in the VIP area to win the opportunity to assign which songs are performed by each artist. Finally, the song choices will be placed in a tube which will be delivered to the stage by a trained seagull. The ghost of Dan Fogelberg will open the envelope and determine whether the Schooner or the Yacht Rock Revue gets to back up the artists on their respective song selections. Gates at 4 PM. Bring your Dramamine®.
